Last time I wrote a blog I was at Training Camp in GA so what a change to instead be sitting in the mountains of Costa Rica writing this now, what an immense blessing to be in this place serving God’s people.

Going into day one of ministry, we had no idea what to expect, this entire journey in getting to Costa Rica has been a chance to hold my hands open to the Lord and ask Him to guide me, (which is hard for me), but what a cool lesson God has taught me and is still teaching me.

There is a laundry list of things to love about being in Costa Rica, the overflowing hospitality of our ministry hosts, the incredible food, a constant supply of coffee, waking up on the side of a mountain, but one of my favorite things has been the abundance of color. From the green covering the landscapes to the orange buildings to the rainbow of colorful of houses, so why would we paint a school any other color but bright blue!

Our God is a creative God, In Garden City by John Mark Comer (a killer book that I’d recommend to all) he says, “God is an artist, a designer, a creative . . . He’s an engineer, a builder .” And the people in Costa Rica have no intention in dulling the color that God put into the world.

In the constant go of life that I have practiced, it has been a beautiful thing to stop and admire the creation of the Creator. The vivid colors and the joy they bring to the everyday. The landscape and buildings each showing that God and His people are full of life. Life that is colorful, there is so much joy in taking a moment to admire the color. Whether it is each unique type of flower that God has dotted the mountains with or the murals around buildings, there is so much to love about the creation.

As people made in the image of a creative God, we are inherently creative. So next time you start something whether it feels creative or not, remember that we are made in the image of the same God who paints the sky striking color each day and embrace the creativity, and maybe paint a couple of blue houses!

So, if you need me, I will be elbow deep in blue paint for now, finding every moment a chance to worship a creative God who shows us the beauty of this world.
